If you’re looking for nightlife in Busan, Gwangalli Beach is hard to beat.
Haeundae has the big hotels and resort atmosphere, while Seomyeon is where you’ll find more of Busan’s late-night club scene. Gwangalli is a little different.
You can grab a craft beer, sit outside with a view of the ocean, watch the lights of Gwangan Bridge, and easily spend the entire evening walking between bars along the beach.
It’s also one of my favorite areas in Busan for a more relaxed night out. You don’t have to commit to a nightclub or plan your entire evening around one place. Grab a drink, walk along the beach, find another bar that looks interesting, and see where the night takes you.

Quick Tips for a Night Out in Gwangalli
Watch the Gwangalli Drone Show
If you’re visiting on a Saturday, check whether the Gwangalli M Drone Light Show is running. The show takes place over the beach and can make an already busy Saturday night even more crowded.
If you want a good view from a bar, I’d get there early rather than trying to find a table right before the show.
Getting to Gwangalli
The easiest way to get there is Gwangan Station on Busan Subway Line 2. From the station, it’s roughly a 10-minute walk toward the beach.
Getting Around at Night
Most of the nightlife is concentrated along and just behind Gwangalli Beach, so you can easily walk between a lot of the bars.
If you’re taking a taxi later at night, I wouldn’t try to get picked up directly on the busiest part of the beachfront. Walking a block or two inland can make things easier.
Craft Beer With Ocean Views
One of the best things about drinking in Gwangalli is being able to combine good beer with a beach view.
There are several places worth checking out, but these are two I’d put toward the top of the list.
SOL Taphouse
If you’re craving pizza and craft beer, SOL Taphouse is an easy place to start.
It’s right across from Gwangalli Beach, with great views of the beach and Gwangan Bridge. The combination of pizza, craft beer and the view makes it a particularly good first stop if you’re starting your night around sunset.
It’s casual and easygoing, so you can grab some food and a couple of beers without feeling like you need to dress up or make a whole evening out of it.
Best for: Pizza, craft beer and sunset views.
Bronx Brewing Co. (브롱스)
Located directly on the Gwangalli Beach strip, Bronx is a great spot to grab an affordable local craft beer on tap while taking in the night view of Gwangan Bridge.

International-Friendly Pubs, Games & Casual Hangouts
One of the things I like about Gwangalli is that you don’t have to speak much Korean to have a good night.
There are several bars around the beach that attract a mix of Koreans, international visitors and travelers, and some are particularly easy places to meet people.
Funny Beer
Funny Beer (퍼니비어) is one of the spots I’d recommend if you’re looking for something casual and fun rather than a fancy cocktail bar.
It’s on the third floor along Gwanganhaebyeon-ro, and the elevated location gives you a great view back toward the beach and Gwangan Bridge.
The atmosphere is relaxed, with games like beer pong and darts, affordable drinks and plenty of food if you start getting hungry.
It’s the kind of place where you can easily stay for a few drinks longer than you originally planned.
Best for: Beer pong, darts, bridge views and a casual night with friends.
Happy Monk
Right on the ground floor of the main beach promenade (187 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro), Happy Monk is one of the most classic, long-standing beach pubs in Gwangalli. With large open-air doors facing the sea, it’s the ideal spot to sit near the breeze, sip a Guinness or cocktail, play a game of darts, and watch the crowd stroll along the boardwalk.

HQ Gwangan
HQ Gwangan has been a longtime favorite among Busan’s international crowd.
It’s part sports bar, part live-music venue, and a good option if you’re traveling alone or want somewhere where it’s relatively easy to meet other people.
Depending on the night, you might find sports on the TVs, live music or other events happening.
Best for: Sports, live music and meeting other travelers or international visitors.
Cocktails & More of a Party Atmosphere
Fuzzy Navel Gwangalli
If you’re ready to move away from craft beer and into more of a beach party atmosphere, check out Fuzzy Navel.
It’s right along the beachfront and tends to get livelier as the night goes on. Expect cocktails, music, outdoor seating and plenty of people coming and going.
It’s a good option if you want to start the night somewhere casual and gradually transition into something a little more energetic.
Best for: Cocktails, people-watching and a livelier beach atmosphere.
The Best Part About Gwangalli Nightlife
For me, the biggest advantage of Gwangalli isn’t any individual bar.
It’s the combination of the beach and the nightlife.
You can start with dinner, walk down the beach, stop for a beer, check out another bar, grab some convenience store snacks and finish the night looking out at Gwangan Bridge.
You’re not stuck inside one nightlife district.
The beach itself becomes part of the night.
And if the weather is good, that’s hard to beat.
Frequently Asked Questions About Gwangalli Nightlife
Can you drink alcohol on Gwangalli Beach?
You’ll often see people enjoying drinks and food around the beach, particularly during the warmer months. However, rules around drinking, noise and other activities can change, so it’s best to follow any posted local restrictions and clean up after yourself.
Do bars in Gwangalli have English menus?
Many of the bars and restaurants in the main tourist areas have English menus or English-language information, especially places that regularly attract international visitors.
That said, don’t assume every smaller bar will have a full English menu. Having Papago or Google Translate on your phone is still useful.
Is Gwangalli good for nightlife if I don’t want to go clubbing?
Absolutely.
That’s actually one of the reasons I like it.
You can have a great night in Gwangalli without ever stepping into a nightclub. There are plenty of pubs, breweries, cocktail bars and casual places where you can just grab a drink and enjoy the view.
Is Gwangalli better than Haeundae for nightlife?
They’re different.
Haeundae is better if you want larger hotels, a more resort-like atmosphere and a wider range of tourist infrastructure.
Gwangalli is my pick if you want a more relaxed beach neighborhood with bars, restaurants, craft beer and one of the best nighttime views in Busan.
What time should I go out in Gwangalli?
I’d start around 6–7 PM if you want dinner and sunset before getting into the nightlife.
If you’re mainly interested in bars, you can start later and stay out into the night. Friday and Saturday are usually the liveliest nights.
Final Thoughts
If you’re visiting Busan and enjoy beer, cocktails, beaches and nightlife, I’d definitely put Gwangalli on your list.
You don’t need to plan an entire night around one bar. Pick a place to start, grab a drink, and then walk along the beach and see what looks interesting.
And if you can time your visit with the drone show, even better.
Grab a drink, find a spot with a view of Gwangan Bridge, and enjoy the night.
